Our History

The Rotary Club of Mabalacat is an organization of professional men and women who represent a cross section of local business and professional leaders in Mabalacat, Clark and nearby areas. The charter of the club was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Angeles.

The charter president was Architect Hipolito Pieng Hipolito, a former president of Kiwanis Club of Mabalacat during the year 1976-1979. With its motto Take Time To Service, the club was chartered on 26 June 1980 with President James L. Bomar and District Governor Romeo P. Galang.

The early Rotary Club of Mabalacat was mostly composed of expatriates, some of whom became ambassadors when they went back to their own countries. Its former members are still in close contact to help with project funding. These community service projects are being determined by the organization based on local needs.

During the term of Bruce McTavish on 1983-1984, an x-ray machine worth $250,000 was donated to Mabalacat District Hospital. Previous terms constructed the multi-purpose barangay hall of Paralayunan, Mabalacat; built 300 houses for quake victims in San Fabian, Pangasinan at USD500 each in 1990-1991; distributed medicines, clothing, food and other relief articles to Mt. Pinatubo victims.

From 1998 to 2001, the club operated a daily Rotaclinic for indigents, rendering free dental and medical check up to residents of Sapang Biabas and Camachiles. The Rotary Club of Mabalacat also brought in volumes of medical supplies and equipment to the country thru World Community Service and Matching Grant projects with cash assistance from foreign clubs and ambassadors at large.

The club%9s flagship project, Medical Surgical Program, has benefitted more than 12,000 indigents who received free surgery to correct defects like harelip, cleft palate, hernia, hydrocephalus, cataract, and goiter. At present, a continuing source of funding thru Rotary Global Grant benefits thousands of sick children and needy adults.

The clubs current GIFT of LIFE project has sponsored and sent over 56 children to its sister club RC Saicity D3201 in India for free open heart surgery.

Another set of this global grant will bring the next 18 congenital heart patients to India as soon as it is safe to travel.

Rotary Club of Mabalacat club has established its footage in Rotary history when Past President Bruce McTavish and two clubs in Angeles City began the Polio pilot program in 1982 which was officially adopted by Rotary in 1985 as worldwide program.
